Non-Eligible Artwork
MYA was created to support illustrators. Because of this, not all artists will benefit from joining. Take a look at the list of of art below as well as the Supported Art List to get a better idea of whether MYA is the right fit to advance your work.
If you use non-eligible medium or style, exceptions might be made depending on your work.
Eligibility criteria may change to reflect the community. We encourage artists to share their views and experiences with us by emailing modernyegart@gmail.com
MYA does not have support structures planned for these types of work:
Compiled Work
Any art where the vast majority of the style or assets are not created originally by the artist (unless for consensual collaborative purposes) will be considered compiled work. Fan art in an original style is welcome at MYA.

Crafts, Carpentry, and Clothes
Some crafts fall into a unique, illustrative category. For example, work such as Barbara Reids' is highly illustrative despite using a normally crafts-oriented medium. In cases such as these, creators may be eligible to join MYA. Artists who use clothes, furniture, etc. as canvases for illustrative work may also be eligible.

We recognize the skill and merit of NSFW creators, but do not have supports for it right now.
-
Work containing severe gore (horror themes are welcome)
-
Work of a sexual nature (artistic nudes and tasteful pinups are an exception)
-
Work that touches on sensitive topics in an extreme way that may disturb viewers - artists are welcome to share work with these topics in MYA spaces provided they're conscientious of audience sensitivities
-
Non-sexual artwork depicting genitals or other anatomy that may disturb viewers
Classic Fine Art
The line between 'Classic Fine Art' and Illustrative Art doesn’t truly exist. Because MYA hopes to support specific types of art, we do our best to define them to a degree. We define classic fine art as work rooted in established artistic traditions that would commonly be supported through a traditional venue such as art galleries, museums, etc. This isn’t a perfect definition. However, we trust the majority of people to understand the nuance between a Picasso and a Pikachu.
-
Traditional sculptures - ex. Renaissance-style marble statues, Inuit soap carvings
-
Abstract artwork - even if the medium is digital
-
Exact pastiches of established artistic movements or artists - Taking inspiration from a style and/or paying homage will be considered differently than pastiches.
-
Hyperrealism
